2020 – Sumun maa – Maria Pääkkönen

Katkelma, kudelma, kohtaus. Näkyvän maailman häilyvyys ja parvi vaikeasti pyydystettäviä ajatuksia. Paljon hitaasti kuluvaa aikaa ja kirkas välähdys katoavaa nykyisyyttä. Irrallisia palasia, loputtomasti ei mihinkään sijoittuvia yksityiskohtia ja mielikuvien haurasta liimaa. Kokonaiskuva hämärtyy ja muistin perukoilta karkaavia säikeitä on hankala sitoa yhteen. Muistot tarttuvat vuodenaikoihin ja vuodenajat sulautuvat jatkuvaksi harmaaksi hukkuen lopulta sumuun.

Sumun maa on ote tarinan satunnaisesta kohdasta, eräästä prosessista leikattu jakso, äkillinen alku ja avoin loppu. Näyttelyssä nähtävä installaatio koostuu piirustuksista ja tekstistä.

A fragment, a weave, a sequence. The wavering nature of visible reality and a flock of hard to trap thoughts. A lot of slowly passing time and a bright flash of the fast disappearing now. Disconnected pieces, endless amount of nowhere located details and some frail glue of imagination. The big picture darkens and the threads escaping from the back end of the memory are difficult to tie together. Memories stick to merging seasons forming constant greyness that finally vanishes into the fog.

Sumun maa (Land of fog) is a quotation from a random point of the story, a clip from one process, a sudden begin and an open end. The installation presented in the exhibition consists of drawings and text work.
